Until a couple of months ago I really didn't know much of anything about her. Then they did a couple of location shoots for her new TV show a block from where I live. At least some of the production money is actually being spent in Queens..... |

I was subjected to this today because I was going to try to catch an LIRR train out of Hunterspoint Avenue, but I got there too late to make the 3:40, and it was too cold to hang around there waiting for the next one over half an hour later. The announcements were so irritating that I chose to switch to the Jamaica-bound E at Court Square (which transfer I ironically only just panned here this week) instead of waiting for the somewhat easier transfer at Roosevelt Avenue. Would have been great to have a staircase straight down to the E, but at least I got some exercise going from the fourth car of the 7 to the second car of the E. |

Until I saw a bus shelter ad for her this afternoon, I did not even know she existed, but she probably could still say the same about me. If I ever win the lottery... it's bus shelter ads for me. |

Her announcements were not the first ti inject a bit of humor into subway announcements. In the late 1950s/early q960s there was a C/R who worked the Bway IRT Line by the name of Abe Steinberg who was referred to as the “poet laureate of the subway.” He was one of the C/Rs whose train I rode on he way home from high school And certain days I would ride the whole last trip from V/C to So/Fy and back. Some of his announcements included things like “66 St the 99 upside down station,” “137 St City College for better knowledge,” and “59 St Columbus Circle, change for the IND if you want it.” A few years later another C/R who also worked the Bway Line by the name of Harry Nugent attained a small bit of fame in the news media for making similar announcements. Considering the time frame he worked it wouldn’t surprise me if Abe Steinberg broke Harry Nugent in. |

It's a little different when there's no ulterior motive. Hopefully those conductors also knew how to use the microphone. Oddly enough, some of the special recordings on the 7 were muffled and unintelligible, which is unusual for recorded announcements. |

It doesn't need "2020 amenities." In the end, it's transportation." Wow Andrew I can't imagine what you would do if there were street dancers or a homeless guy in the subway car you were riding. It's announcements that are no worse than manual announcements on R32/46/62/68.Just say that you don't like her and have absolutely no sense of humor. At the end of the day this was much needed money for the MTA. |

"Pigeons and doves are the same thing..."sounds like it could be a line from an Allen Ginsburg poem about Bryant Park and: Poles are for hands only ? I thought Poles were for Warsaw or Gdansk... |
