Notice 20 diesel coaches and 10 locomotives for the LIRR. God know what they will be. Be very hard to order just 20 coaches unless riding on someone else's car order. Would have to be C-3 compatible.

I wouldn't give them that much credit.
Could be Sumitomo MARC cars.
Could be NJT MLV cars that they'll call "C-5".
Could be Siemens cars that Amtrak is getting to replace Amfleet.

A lot of these are old projects.

Yeah, it's pretty irritating to see LIRR 3rd track still there.

It's none of those, it's going to be unpowered versions of the M-9A cars... It was going to be 30 option coaches, now it's down to just "nearly 20", which won't even bring them back to the number of seats they had in the old diesel fleet in the 1980's...

No electrification, other than the Central Branch, which is trivial.

Guess we're staying stuck in the last century for another five years...

Well, given how much money ESA has bled from the capital plan, one could argue that LIRR is tapped out for capital plan money...

It's going to continue being the Manhattan & Ronkonkoma RR Company.

They'll probably run them to Oyster Bay and Greenport.

Faster? That's debatable.

I don't see the use of electrifying the Central Branch, nor for the expanded Ronkonkoma Yard to be 10 or 11 tracks as opposed to 3 or 4 tracks. Anything but electrify to Port Jeff. These are stalling tactics.

Actually, the Central Branch electrification is important if they don't plan to purchase enough diesels to run proper service. They seem to want to shuttle-ize everything. With the third Main Line track and Central Branch electrification, they could run more Babylon expresses through Hicksville and relegate more diesels to shuttle service. I can easily see the Cannonball as the only through diesel run left at some point, with perhaps another minor electrification to Patchogue to push the diesels further into shuttle status.

Work is already going on at the Ronkonkoma Yard to expand it so maybe it is already covered.
