Picked up my copy at the TM store in GCT.Great as always, Bill. One minor comment though on July - in the narrative you mention the detail about the A-Bs being replaced with the R32s and you talk about the M line but you didn't identify the car 8326 in the photo as a R30 (1961). I liked the NX service notice on the back cover. I noticed that they spelled Stillwell Avenue as "Stilwell". Interesting typo on someones part (or have we all been spelling it wrong all this time). |

Actually circa 1962, I clocked an R-16 Manhattan bound (Railroad NORTH) on the Jamaica Exp between E/Pky and Bway/Myrtle at 60 MPH. The late George Abere was the M/M. Unfortunately by the time I became a M/M in 1969 they had deteriorated very badly. |

The only reason for the R-36 MLs was that the R-33 singles were built with R-36 parts that were on hand at St Louis so that Flushing Line passengers could get a preview of what the rest of the WF fleet would be like. After the Flushing line was fully equipped with R-36 WFs, the left over R-33 parts were used to complete the order of ML IRT cars which was 40 cars short. |
