The only reason for the R-36 MLs was that the R-33 singles were built with R-36 parts that were on hand at St Louis so that Flushing Line passengers could get a preview of what the rest of the WF fleet would be like. After the Flushing line was fully equipped with R-36 WFs, the left over R-33 parts were used to complete the order of ML IRT cars which was 40 cars short. |
