The format/page layout etc. doesn't seem as user friendly as this site. It is slower, and the discussion section is only about one half the page on the left hand side. The almost 1/2 right hand side of the screen, is filled with site explanatory text or ads.It looks like there's decent discussion topics though. |

So, regarding a topic I just saw on r/nycrail, what's going on with the renovation at Chambers St.? How long ago did it begin?Is the scope of its renovation, to include what was discussed here sometime over the last year or so? Will any part of the platform(s) area be walled off; to the detriment of this spacious underground station's original design? Is there an MTA page describing the extent of Chambers St's. enovation (either public or in-house). If so does someone here have a link they can post? Thanks as always. |

I don't know myself, but I certainly hope they don't seal off any more of it or rip out trackage, and thus giving up the ability to turn trains in the case of a scheduled GO or an emergency. |

If anything, I imagine other transit enthusiasts who have developmental disabilities and enjoy transit for educational/historical purposes or by looking at a map and whatnot.On another note, there are a lot of transit enthusiasts who can be geeks too regardless of whether or not the person is on the spectrum. I myself like Star Wars, cartoons (ex. MLP:FiM), movies and collecting comic books. |

I think I have some light autistic qualities; I'm much into the systematic aspects of transit, though not to the exclusion of all the other aspects (historical, social, etc).Transit is amazing! Megaships, jumbo-jets, multi-mile-long trains, all as parts of enterprises that move people and goods in a way deemed (by at least somebody) appropriate for a given area's distribution of population, geography, and other factors. Different types of routing patterns, fare payment schemes, and other logistics make for mathematical and scientific elements. And I do get into the historical and cultural aspects to an extent as well. Why does that line end there? Or make that turn? Or run at the frequency? Or use that type of vehicle? Did it always? What else did they consider? How does it work for people's travel patterns? And you can to some extent go through every mode of every transportation company with these questions, learning a lot about non-transit matters along the way. |
