Re: Are railbuffs generally autistic?

I think I have some light autistic qualities; I'm much into the systematic aspects of transit, though not to the exclusion of all the other aspects (historical, social, etc).

Transit is amazing! Megaships, jumbo-jets, multi-mile-long trains, all as parts of enterprises that move people and goods in a way deemed (by at least somebody) appropriate for a given area's distribution of population, geography, and other factors. Different types of routing patterns, fare payment schemes, and other logistics make for mathematical and scientific elements. And I do get into the historical and cultural aspects to an extent as well.

Why does that line end there? Or make that turn? Or run at the frequency? Or use that type of vehicle? Did it always? What else did they consider? How does it work for people's travel patterns? And you can to some extent go through every mode of every transportation company with these questions, learning a lot about non-transit matters along the way.
