I happened to be that train operator on that redbird. I was sitting on it to ride to 121 to get my car to go home. But...…..

……..at that point the midnight crews were reporting and no train operator signed on, so I got stuck making the trip. The superintendent nailed me. I was exhausted by the time I got back to Parsons around 2 AM.

As for the missing t/o: he said that station dept. was late in opening up the station and he couldn't get in.

funny thing is I had a dream last night about the LIRR Rockaway ROW.

I have train dreams about 2 times a week. The other days I dream about exercise and food.

Early this morning I had a dream my retired 1st grade detective uncle at age 83 took a job as a motorman on the L line. I was at their house but it was on the jersey shore and I could see the Marine Parkway Bridge across the bay.
I was at the Brooklyn Terminal Market today to get Christmas tree and pointed out the Bay Ridge Branch to the kids so thats my semi abandoned line story of the day. There is an interesting arch across E. 83rd street I've been enamored with since I can remember. So I showed them the Wyckoff house too as an reason to drive through it.

That's a profound dream.

Is the L your favorite line?

I grew up riding the M, J and L lines but I really like the A from Lefferts to Euclid. Love that stretch of track for some reason.

I had a dream about riding Arines on the L line last night, my medication makes me dream damn near every night. Transit related dreams are quite common for me, usually about retired transit vehicles still being in service in the current day.

I have no idea where that came from. Gramps worked on the Sea Beach line. I've only been on the L a few times. I'm gaining an appreciation of the IRT now that I'm in the Bronx more and more. But I'm an IND fan by trade.
In the dream I think that bridge vision has to do with my old man for I associate the two of them because of them both arriving in 1937.

That was not originally IRT. That was the New York, Westchester & Boston's main line and it used to serve White Plains and Rye. (Used to be electrified with 11kV 25Hz overhead wire too.)

I think you're right. I think the train I bought in had a problem getting the lineup.

The train I left on with the extra trip left late because it took time for them to realize the scheduled t/o was missing and for me to go back in the office to get a radio for the trip.

re: "That GOH R30 felt toasty though"
- reminds me of the very old London Underground poster, people are on the train bundled up - obviously traveling during the winter - The poster caption is: "The Underground, Always Warm and Bright."

and yes, there's nothing like traveling on a warm and toasty subway car...

Yeah, I agree with that!
I grew up in Bell Park Manor Terrace 1952-57, corner of Hillside and Springfield. There were always Bungalow Bar trucks making the rounds durng the summer.

Some years back (heh! late 90s? early 2000's) there was a Children of Bell Park reunion, held, IIRC, on the grounds of Martin Van Burne HS. The reunion committee made sure to have a working Bungalow Bar truck there dispenseing ice cream throughout the afternoon.
