I was under the impression that the approach from Marcy Ave. to the Willy B was one of those sharp turns too tight for 75' cars.

yes. I think it's the "center excess" of some of the 75' cars that were a problem.

They ran some 75' trains with articulated centers to see where they would contact other trains, signals, buildings, etc......They are photos of the train at ENY.

It is a very long run.

The CTA 151, which I think of as the Chicago equivalent of the Q32, is also split between 2 depots. The ones that turn back at Belmont are from Kedzie.

10' wide cars have fit since 1915 on the Eastern Division. Why would they want to cut back to 9' ?

Montague is what has the tight clearances and can no longer handle a 1960's SMEE car. That's a Southern Division issue anyway.

Ah, OK. Thanks! I'm just thinking about the time we had manual drafting and we were simply asked to redraw a set of drawing details to built a flatbed trailer , designed by another company.
The piece of web that tapers up from the deep section of the frame to the smaller front section where the tractor fits under got me in trouble. The boss over my boss reamed me out I his office in front of my boss. "This part does not fit!!! I answered back , "Joe , all we were told to do was redraw the set of drawings!". He yells at me "You are the engineer"..... (They had to make all new webs, at considerable expense:) I kept my job, after a scary day.

So in retrospect, if we would have been allowed to make scale model assembly drawings, we could have seen the error, and better yet, with 3-D modeling, the combination of parts would not have mated!

It's nice to be retired and laugh about all of this.

That doesn't mean you're the decision-maker. If you're told to design a whole new trailer, that's a different story.

Buses aren't normally coupled together, train cars are.

Regardless, I'm confused as to how an "articulated center" in a train car helps test the ability of a non-articulated car of the same length to run on a line.

not that long. considering belt parkway traffic the difference is minor. and even if true, so what? an extra twenty minutes? consider how long it takes for someone going to coney island from, say, fordham road and grand concourse, or pitkin avenue by subway. bus via atlantic avenue to conduit to sunrise would take less time.
