The reference was to "set," not sets, so I thought the poster meant one set per train.Also, others here have asserted, with some backup evidence that I am in no position to comment on, that G trains will be 600 feet long come April. In any case, come April, there will be a huge number of spare cars not needed on the L, a sizeable number of added cars needed on the G, and more cars needed on the M. Given all that, why would they be making rearrangements now? |

What I read in the other transit board is once the L shuts down:the G will get 480' trains, half R160, half R32. The rest of the R32's will be on the A The R42's will be in Coney Island as a reserve fleet. When the L shut down finished, the A's R32's will hang on until the R211. All the other SMEE's go away. |

Implementation of CBTC on Queens Blvd. is years away. It is not totally installed yet. Testing takes years. And implementation will no doubt be late.CBTC on the L was years late. CBTC testing on the 7 is years late. I know it is partially up on the 7, don't know if it's on the entire line, but if it is, it is still being closely watched. By the time it is fully up and running the R211's will be here and the R46's will be a memory. The only reason why there is a rush is so railfans want to get their exclusive pics and videos of cars on different lines. There is no reason to send all the parts needed to repair R46's down to CI Maintenance Shop. They have a lot of models to deal with as it is and don't need another one! |
