I received this from a NYCT employee. To all the heartless non caring Automatons : If it was a loved one of yours would you want service to continue and just shove your loved one aside to get pickup the body overnight ? Why is an MTA employee treated as rubbish ? Most MTA employees have loved ones too ! (Parents, friends, spouse, kids, relatives, etc.) Brothers and Sisters, There was a terrible tragedy and one of our Brothers was killed on the job early this morning. He apparently fell and struck his head in a tunnel south of the 125th Street Station on the Lexington Avenue line. A full investigation has begun to determine exactly how this happened. TWU Local 100 extends our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family and we will help them any way we can. --- Tony Utano, President, TWU Local 100 |

In station loudspeaker announcements this morning all mentioned an employee fatality. Conditions were very crowded on the 1/2/3 as trains seemed to be running less frequently at least around 9am (when trains did come, there did not appear to be slowdowns due to congestion). The announcements seemed to subdue everyone -- my only fault is that they kept repeatedly stating "near the 125th St station" but no mention of which lines (there are three 125th St stations). |

Especially when people have to deal with bosses who get upset about lateness when it's not their fault, especially when such bosses already know they likely are not going to be able in many cases to get to work tomorrow due to weather. |

If the original poster's version of the MTA advisory is correct, then the MTA is at fault for not giving a reason for the disruptions. The advisory should have started with: Because of an employee injury at 125 St - Lex Av: |

Body being scrapped off the tracks and having passengers knowing what happened complaining about having to get to work... |

It is a big problem, compounded by employers who think people should leave even earlier than they do to accommodate potential situations, especially companies who deal with clients outside the US who have little sympathy and such clients who think employees have to be there no matter what. |

The original delay from the alert archive:3/20/2018 4:55:32 AM NYC MANH, 4 and 6 Trains, Injured There is no 4 and 6 train service between 86 St and 138 St-Grand Concourse in both directions because of an employee injury at 125 St. And the full advisory from the OP's timeframe: Expect significant delays in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 service. There is no 4 train service between 86 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse in both directions. 5 trains are stopping along the 2 line between 149 St-Grand Concourse and Nevins St in both directions. There is no southbound 5 train service from Nereid Av to E 180 St. There is no 6 train service between 86 St and 3 Av-138 St in both directions. Some W trains are stopping along the Q line between 57 St-7 Av and 96 St in both directions. Travel Alternative There are free SB buses providing service between 86 St and 149 St-Grand Concourse in both directions. For additional service, southbound B and D trains are running local from Bedford Park Blvd to 145 St. These service changes are because of an employee injury at 125 St. Things are very clear, and I counted at least 10 service advisories, on the matter. |

My sympathies to everyone involved. There is one question. After reading each of the advisories, I was left with a question. How did #6 train riders get from 138th Street-Third Avenue to 86th Street? All of the advisories talk about buses connecting 86th Street and 149th Street-Grand Concourse, but seem to not note connections for #6 train riders. Just wondering. Mike |
