Countdown clocks |
|
Posted by jabrams on Mon Jan 1 11:27:09 2018 The Daily News today reported that countdown clocks are now working at 471 subway stations. I thought there were 472 stations, so what station is missing the clocks? |

It helps to know how fast you have to run to get into the train.Regarding Norwood, the clocks at terminals - aren't they only for outgoing trains? At 242, its only for them. Does Norwood have them for both directions? |

Earlier today I noticed it was continually refreshing with misleading information from the 7. Trains to Hudson Yards would appear in the Flushing-bound section, and it was refreshing with crazy times. |

And the #7 countdown clocks are still in test mode, as they themselves say. And they're completely inaccurate. Tonight at Queensboro Plaza upper level, the clock said the next train would arrive in 3 minutes, and it said that as the train pulled in to the station. Also, it says "Flushing - Mai" because there's no room for the n. (Actually there's plenty of room for the n if they shortened the minutes field.) And the #7 clocks are a completely different design from the others, with each line numbered and the display in black. Of course on the upper level at QP the N clock is next to the 7 track, and the 7 clock (a separate clock) is behind it and blocked from view and can't be seen unless you're right there, so most people won't notice the mis-information. I suspect that's why most of the clocks have been installed in stupid positions, the least visible locations, so that no one will notice how bad they are. |
