After all, you are a self-confessed white supremacist.

Of course, that's your answer for everything.

ou have stated that you think racial equality is, in your own words, "nonsense and propaganda."

Of course, because you say so.

And in numerous previous threads, you have demonstrated that your reading comprehension is so poor that you are functionally illiterate.

Of course, because I don't play your autistic games.

Perhaps you should take a moment to ponder the life choices that led you to this pitiable condition where your sense of self-worth is entirely contingent on believing that having pale skin makes you inherently superior despite your complete lack of personal success, social contribution, or community standing.

Of course, as you wallow in your manufactured leftist white guilt.

Well yes, the Jamaica el situation was very complicated. I think the Queens Boro President Donald Manus (whatever his name was) was a driving factor.

But the 2 non-dual contract els had huge targets on their back. IIRC, 3rd Avenue el had some stations with ridership growing.

Stop revising history. What you posted is your opinion. There were people who cared about the Myrtle Ave. El. Some business owners on the route, wrongfully thought that the razing of the El., would improve their business. What happened was the opposite. Yes, I concede the area was in economic decline. However, I still contend that, "You can`t paint an entire neighborhood by the actions of a few."

There are Daily News articles which showed that SOME people/residents of the area opposed the El. coming down, but their pleas were by and large ignored. Sumner Houses, Marcy Houses, Fort Green Houses, Lafayette Gardens and Roosevelt Houses were completely filled. So how does that equate to a population decrease? Those same people conducted their business along Myrtle Ave. because that is where the stores were located. These people worked for the BD. of ED, NYPD, Transit Authority, Department Stores in Downtown Bklyn. to name a few.

The B54 was inadequate as a replacement for the El. Just think how the 8 and the MJ Els would be useful today in these neighborhoods.

Nonsense. When they wanted to abandon the Franklin Shuttle, the locals screamed like hell & the shuttle was saved. The locals there were primarily non-white. As far as the Myrtle Ave Els demise, there was too much outside political factors that went above & beyond what anyone in the area who wanted to save the el. To say that the Myrtle Ave el was ripped down a/c the area it served was primarily black is just an example of Al Sharpton like race baiting hysteria. Besides being well, nonsense.

I think the major reason was money. The MTA did not want to spend the millions that were required to rehab this line. By 1969 the Q cars had to go, and each station needed wooden platform replacements. In today's climate it would have gotten a major rebuild. In the 1960's, they just tore it down.

Anyone here know what the Myrtle Ave el ridership was, between Sumner Ave and Bridge-Jay St? I don't remember too many people in those Q cars, between rush hours, during the mid-1960's. Unless I'm wrong, low ridership factored into its demise.

I'm sure they cited that. The thing is, as long as the line keeps standing, ridership can come back, as we know. Demolition also cannot be undone. Yes, theoretically, a replacement line can be built. But that hasn't worked out too well in the past 77 years, either.

Actually, as I have mentioned in several posts on this topic, according to a TA civil engineer I knew, the Myrtle structure could hold anything the TA operated including the D types if they could have fit there. The lightweight R-39 was more for the 3 Av el than Myrtle but once it was determined that the R-12s could operate on 3rd, there was no longer any reason to order new cars for lines that were slated for demolition anyhow.

I remember a cab ride in a P-wire R-46. The motorman cut out the dynamics (circuit breaker)for a station stop, to show me the difference. The stop was much smoother without them. I would think it was to reduce the shaking of structure.
