There's an elevator from the street level to the mezzanine, but none from the mezzanine to the platforms. The MTA is preparing to build platform elevators though. |

How does one elevator to the mezzanine only help wheelchairs? And they should indicate this on the status page, so those who really need access to the platforms are aware. That's what asterisks* are for. *Ignore this notice. |

MTA is doing it in two phases of getting the station ADA requirement. First phase was a piece of cake to get the street to mezzanine. The mezzanine to platforms project at the time when they planned faced a lot obstacles getting a suitable location to construct the elevators. They been going through the design process more than 5 years. I believe they are in a processes to bid the projects out. |

The signs on the elevator building say "57 Street Subway Station N Q R", implying that there is elevator access to those trains. Is there another station anywhere that has an elevator only to the mezzanine and not also to the platform? |

Yes, Briarwood Van Wyck:That ADA symbol is misleading (at least it does not appear on the elevator at 57 St). As far as I know there are no immediate plans to install elevators from the mezzanine to the platforms at Briarwood. |
