Many years ago, in the 1980s, I remember a Daily News or Post story about some guy who was doing chin-ups from the roof structure on one of the Rockaway stations (don't know anymore if it was Far Rock or Rock Park).Just as the next train pulled into the station, he stopped, and shoved a completely innocent person (who died) onto the tracks. Also, somewhat unrelatedly, the first perp's (knife guy) public defender is a fairly good looking woman. Put some makeup and a smile on her, and WOW, she'd be hot. |

Bellevue, who lives in Crown Heights, has 35 prior arrests, including three menacing cases involving weapons, police said.Most recently, on Aug. 9 in the Bronx, Bellevue was charged with petit larceny and possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana after he was caught stealing food from a deli, authorities said. The next day, while in Central Booking, Bellevue was charged with felony assault, again in the Bronx, after he spat in a cop's mouth on E. 161st St., police said. The officer went to an area hospital for treatment. He should not have been out on bail. |

He should not have been out on bail.The US Constitution only allows bail as a remedy for insuring that people appear in court. It is not allowed as a remedy to keep people from committing further crimes, no matter how disgusting their prior behavior has been. Blame James Madison. |

Given his record I am quite sure that he could have been kept in jail. He clearly has demonstrated less than zero respect for the rules of society, which would include showing up in court.Fortunately, he's probably not going to get off too easily for this latest offense. |
