ROCKAWAY FERRY |
|
Posted by TUNNELRAT on Sun Jun 25 11:11:44 2017 I took the rockaway ferry to nyc last thrs.$5,50 round trip well spent.fantastic views of new York from the water.I even saw the cross harbor tug pulling a barge with an assortment of cars on it.it looked like a HO railroad.I highly recommend it.you can drive into rockaway, beach 108st.and find parking on the street.bring a wind breaker if you are doing just the round trip, its cold as soon as you leave the dock, both ways.if you are a senior,or a senorita you can get a half fare coupon on line. |

But if taking PATH from NJ, WTC to Pier 11 is a schlep.18 minutes, whether walking or taking the R train (no 2/3 on weekends). What kind of bus do they use on the Rockaway Shuttle bus ? I am surprise they have their own Governor's Island route, kind of redundant with what runs out of South Ferry for $2 RT. |

I have heard that a lot of people get on the ferry in Manhattan and go to Rockaway Beach to frolic in the sun and surf, rather than taking the A train or going to the Jersey Shore, Jones Beach or Coney Island. |

The bus service is run by Trans-Express Inc. The three bus routes are run by Trans-Express Inc. They use International Coaches. As near as I can it, it is a Model CE minibus not unlike the Ford F-450. The buses are painted in a blue green livery with an MYC Ferry Logo. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
