Larry,
A very interesting day in history. I do remember seeing those

I didn't even know the Myrtle Line was at grade at one point. I thought it had been built as a fully elevated line.

This is the part from Wyckoff to Fresh Pond that was elevated in 1915. Previously it was at grade and, since 1906, was connected to the elevated portion at Wyckoff by a ramp.

Your welcome. Did trolley cars ever operate underneath the el on the ROW?

I believe so, but I don't know the dates. I think what is now the Q-58 (formerly B-58) Ridgewood/Flushing bus used to run under the El when it was a trolley line - until about 1950.

The original Myrtle Av el terminated at Wyckoff Ave at a stub terminal that was a bit past the present curve. Initially, when it was decided to extend the el, it was done by a ramp down to the trolley tracks that already existed. Under the dual contracts the present el structure was built and connected to the older portion of the el which had recently beed rebuilt to dual contract standards and third tracked.

Yes, the Flushing Ridgewood trolley line did operate on those tracks under the el until June 1949.

The original ROW was called the Lutheran Cemetery Line. The Bushwick Railroad opened the line heading to the cemetery in 1881 as a competitor to the horse cars that ran on Metropolitan Ave., and was steam operated, like many of the other older el lines in Brooklyn. It was taken over by the Brooklyn City RR by 1888, received trolleys in 1895 and in 1906 was connected to the Myrtle el.

Coincidentally, a bunch of photos of the construction of the El from Wyckoff to Fresh pond were just posted in the Facebook group The Brooklyn Rapid Transit Els.
You probably need a Facebook account in order to view this.

If you look quickly during the chase sequence in The French Connection, you can see streetcar tracks in that snippet filmed in Ridgewood just before Hackman slams sideways into that wooden fence.
