I'll agree in part and might be inclined to think the 1200 out of 96th St will be a wrapped train, but don't hold me to it (don't know that as a fact!).FYI, there should be two more put ins from 96th St behind the 1200, one at 07 and one at 15. The wrapped trains were probably carrying special guests on the 2nd Av Shuttle(s) tonight for the inaugural run.... -Stef |

Posted by Dyre Dan on Sun Jan 1 07:45:10 2017, in response to For Those Interested, posted by Stef on Sat Dec 31 03:17:42 2016. I wonder when this schedule was finalized. Last week, it sounded like they were saying the first train to run on the SAS would be the one leaving 57/7 northbound about noon, with the implication that southbound service would start when the train got to 96/2 and reversed direction. Then they were simply saying "service starts at noon", and now it seems they will open the new stations at 11:45 AM and the first train actually will be departing from the newly opened 96th St. station, with northbound service from 57/7 starting a few minutes later. Was the original plan changed when they realized it meant there would be no southbound service for a while after 12, despite announcements suggesting otherwise, or was this really the plan all along? |

It sounds to me like first they made the executive decision to start service at noon, and announced it.Then someone had to implement the details. Then they announced those, but someone realized (or was told by questioning emailers) that the details were ambiguous. Then finally someone realized they might as well be precise or they were just going to get flooded with still more emails. |

Heh.There were way too many trains up there. The second train crawled all the way up from 57/7. And a southbound train at 12:35 crawled down to 63/Lex and then got up to a reasonable speed. |

I got to 57/7 at 11:55 and the train was already there. All seats taken, some standees.I was told it was an extra, originating at 57/7, not on the transitional supplement schedule. No one knew why it was done like this. Maybe the 1108/STL was late or reported overcrowded, I have no way of knowing. Perhaps those at 57/7 and 63/Lex couldn't fit on the train IDK. We left 57/7 at 1202, held at 72 at least 5 minutes, no concrete explanation. Slow ride after that. |

C/r either had trouble with the TOD or didn't know how to program the announcements starting from the different terminal. My car station was stuck on 72nd St. |

Maybe the 1108/STL was late or reported overcrowded, I have no way of knowing.I was on a northbound Q train that got into 57/7 at 12:08 instead of 12:03, and I had waited about 10 minutes for it at Union Square. So either the 1108 was 5 minutes late, or else it was 5+ minutes early. It sounds like it was late. The train I was on fuller than normal but wasn't really crowded. I had the anti-railfan window to myself till 63/Lex. |

Posted by randyo on Sun Jan 1 17:21:25 2017, in response to For Those Interested, posted by Stef on Sat Dec 31 03:17:42 2016. I probably should have advised the people on this board to go to 57 St because I was afraid that would happen. The same thing happened to me the first day the IND started service to Lefferts in 1956. All the announcements displayed in the trains indicated the time that the first A train to Lefferts would leave 207 St that day. I waited at my home station 168 for what should have been that first A train. After letting a train signed for Euclid go by, I took the next Euclid train to Euclid only to find that there was no through A service to Euclid but only a connecting shuttle thus I missed the first IND train into Lefferts due to the TA’s misinformation. |

First train *from* 96th left right on time at noon. Governor gave a short speech. It wrong-railed the entire line until the switch south of 72st; there were trains parked on the normal southbound track, meaning it ran the entire length of the new construction before the first northbound could go through. So, unless you boarded at 96st, you were the second or third train on the northbound track, and certainly not the first on any part of the new line. |

Minor correction: the first northbound *did* experience the lower level of 63st and the northbound track to 72st before anyone else. For people trying to get the full length southbound track, you needed to wait until the other wrapped train at 96st left, which was probably around 12:30. |
