Today's Consist (12/4/2016)...And A Problem. |
|
Posted by William A. Padron on Sun Dec 4 12:26:23 2016, in response to Today's Consist (11/27/2016): "Holiday Shopper's Special", posted by William A. Padron on Sun Nov 27 12:36:19 2016. Due to problems encountered with last week's runs, and now seemingly again for today (12/4/2016), the "Holiday Shopper's Special" was running with fewer cars than usual, leaving behind three of them instead at 2nd Avenue. Thus, with making one round trip between 2nd Avenue and Queens Plaza.... n/#381-401-100-1575-484/s Cars left behind... n/#1300 uncoupled with #1000, but coupled with #1802/n. Upon arrival into 2nd Avenue at 11:23am, the five-car train became overcrowded with the "hipsters" dressed in retro clothes. I had left there to go to West 4th Street on a regular "F" train with R-160's in use. Then, at around 11:45-11:50am, I heard on the PA at West 4th Street that the train was NOT running, and is instead on display at 2nd Avenue still. Until the problem is corrected, then it is scratched from any further runs for this week. And so it goes... -William A. Padron ["Those are the conditions that prevail there"] |

They used 5 cars on first trip. Overcrowded. Either Control Center wanted the train o/s or it was determined the train being so overcrowded would cause delays to regular service trains. |

I guess digging 1000 and 1802 out would have caused too much interference for the regular trains... oh well.To do that they would have probably needed to: -drop off 1000 and 1802 at 2nd ave on one of the terminal tracks -pull out onto one of the service tracks -push 1300 into the other terminal track -do a run with the 5 remaining cars -pick up 1000 and 1802 upon return to 2nd ave |

Its too bad they don't have enough R10/11s/16s in the museum fleet to pinch hit, the newer SMEE's B div cars in the museum are too similar to the R32s & 42 were the holiday runs wouldn't be appealing to causal riders.Must have cool to see them cut the train within the station though! AFAIK that kinda thing only happens in yards, hope someone got it on video. |

I guess digging 1000 and 1802 out would have caused too much interference for the regular trains... oh well.1300 was the third car from the south motor. If 1300 was the south motor than 1000 and 1802 would have been on the today's consist. But because of 1300's position, 1000 and 1802 were stuck with no place to go.
