And the ex-BMT Fulton Street Elevated Line along Liberty Avenue in Queens, currently used by the IND Division "A" line, is 101 years old today!

From my original post just a year ago, but for the record, and as confirmed, the last day of BMT service on that section was on Friday, April 27, 1956 at the conclusion of the evening rush hour service. It became an IND Division route, connecting with the new Grant Avenue station that opened on that day, the following Sunday.

The Liberty Avenue Elevated Is 100 Today!

Avid: Thank you for posting those pictures. Its interesting to see how many cars they had in Iowa by 1936.

I would suspect that was because the mentality in the states west of the Mississippi, other than California, leaned more towards individual transportation rather than public transportation so when autos became a reliable alternative to horse drawn wagons as used by farmers they began to show up in increasing numbers.
