Posted by caine515 on Thu Sep 22 12:23:27 2016 Ive been recently reading about rumors to move R46 to the "B" line eventually. But I remember back in the early 1980s when the R44 and R46 were assigned to the Brighton Line they were moved due to noise and vibration. I remember a few R46 assigned to the "Q" line after 9/11 as "Q" were operating to Forest Hills-71st. Can R46 actually go back to the "B"? |

In a perfect world, yes, but the electric R46 signs have become much more unreliable lately. It is not unusual to see a train with mixed signs, including "Last Stop" or blanks or the exact opposite destination. I once saw an A train that had both "Far Rockaway" and "Lefferts" signs. |

As I mentioned in my other post, the B changes north terminals non rush from Bed Pk to 145 whereas the G always runs between Court Sq and Church Av with no sign change required. That’s why the C is a good line for the R-32s since both terminals are constant requiring no sign changing whatever. |

Had they gone to the IND, I suppose the IND junk in Queens would have gone to the Southern Division. While they still had a few un-rebuilt Standards to get rid, it is the Triplexes that they had a bug in their ass about getting rid of.I suppose the R32 did not go to the IND since the contrast between the fine running Triplexes and the worn our Arnines that would have directly taken their places would have become quite obvious. As we found out after Nov 1967, the Arnines had a hell of the time making it over the Manhattan Bridge on the D train. |

The BMT Standards were a low bar to compete with - they were slow and had only 3 sets of doors, with a center post.
