1956 - The IND Fulton Street Subway Line is extended over the former BMT Fulton Street Elevated from 80th Street-Hudson Street to Lefferts Boulevard, via a new intermediate station opened at Grant Avenue from the tunnel connection nearby at Euclid Avenue. "A" line service is now provided to/from Washington Heights-207th Street, and the first trains in service on each of the ceremonial and actual first passenger runs were with the R-10's.

I was there that day and due to misinformation the TA posted regarding the service, I missed the first IND train into Lefferts. The service notice announced the time of the first train lvg 207 St for Lefferts and I got to my home station at 168 St in time for it. When what was supposed to be the first train came through 168 St it was signed for Euclid so I let it go by. When the next train came also signed for Euclid, I figured I had better take it and see what’s going on. When I got to Euclid I discovered that through service was not being operated but the Lefferts was being served by a shuttle. Needless to say, that thanks to the TA’s misinformation, I missed the first IND train to Lefferts and had to settle for the second one. I was only 11 at the time and had I been a bit more railfan savvy, I would have opted to try for the last BMT Fulton el train into Lefferts instead of the first IND one. I do have a souvenir of that last BMT day since I have the controller abd brake valve from Multi 7011 which was in the consist of the last 14/Fulton train to arrive Lefferts on the PM of Friday April 27 1956 the last day of BMT Fulton service.

Yeah, it was recounted before, which had the first real train in passenger service as a Euclid-Lefferts shuttle instead. To whit...
