People in Newark have cheerfully driven straight into the NCS tunnel off McCarter Highway, oblivious to the many large "Do Not Enter" signs posted there. I came out of the PAC one night, and they were doing much backing and filling to get a BMW out of the tunnel. It's driver, I'm told, was seriously pixelated, and almost ran smack into the front of an oncoming trolley. |

There's actually a 2.5 mile tunnel in Alaska that is used for both rail and car traffic... but not simultaneously since it's only one lane/rail wide. Built in the 1940s as a rail tunnel only, vehicle traffic was loaded onto trains until about 1999 when it was converted to dual use. |
