If they can fit "Bklyn Qns Crosst'n" under the GG on the R-1/9s & R-38s, they could have made Avenue of the Americas fit with stratgic abbreviations if they wanted to. |

"shot in the arm"at first I read "shot of rum" oh yeah, and with stations all named the same, it would reduce the transit museum's gift inventory. |

Since all MTA subway stations are in New York City, we could name them all "New York." This would eliminate confusion and promote uniformity and consistency in naming.I like the way you think, Andrew. The only exception that I would would be the station at 76th Street. I was confused (it happens sometimes...). I thought Mr. Padron had switched the discussion to the E train station "Jamaica-Van Wyck". The one on the Archer Extension...I know that van Wyck Blvd is original IND, and the picture shows that the new black tiles with white lettering don't look like genuine IND, which upsets me. |

The modernizations of the Roosevelt walls and 7th Ave. unfortunately are the same way - neither look like the original IND tiling.Wondering if what may happen in the future, will be like what happened to the BMT - the 60s "bathroom style" tile put up during the 60s on the Broadway subway was removed some 40 years later, and the original wall tiling was restored.... |

I know they're still in place at Rector St. When the crews arrive to jackhammer them out, I'll stand there and cheer.A number of the 4th Avenue (Bkln) Stations have them as well. YUCK. When Broadway-Nassau was rebranded as "Fulton", the new tiles are perfect IND replicas. Why couldn't they do that at Briarwood, Roosevelt, 7th Ave, 59th-Coulumbus, and 42/8 :( ? |

Technically, the physical Van Wyck Blvd still exists, only it's now the southbound service road of the expressway. A whole one or two block wide strip of homes along what had been the east side of Van Wyck Blvd was moved or demolished to make way for both the expressway and the northbound service road. The original LIRR overpass across Van Wyck Blvd still exists; it was extended to the east forming the now massive double deck RR overpass. |

Too bad the bathroom tiles are still in place at Rector St. - I thought Rector was renovated with the original tiles prior to 9/11, and then it had to be re-done.re: 4th ave. stations - Aren't these slated to be renovated to original tiles as part of a Capital Program at some point? Broadway-Nassau was rebranded as "Fulton", the new tiles are perfect IND replicas - thanks for the info. I haven't been down there yet. 59th/Columbus, 42/8, 14/8, & 34/6 - all were redone to the detriment of the original IND design - very bad judgment by the MTA :( and 179/Hillside (the home station of my childhood) - the wall renovated with that new design? Positively awful!!! |

The R-9s read “Bkln-Qeeens Local” the word “crosstown” was not on any of the roll signs up to the R-38s. The signs installed on the R-9s, did however read “KK/Ave of Americas Local." |
