It's not your standard nostalgia special at this point as trips will only be made between the Museum and Hoyt St. To run the special the NYTM could utilize 6095ABC, but me thinks it could remain buried behind the R9's.So perhaps there was a reason for getting 6112ABC out of Pitkin... -Stef |

SLRT said "Then they should put one Triplex on the Franklin Shuttle. 137 feet long."No what if it breaks down then Franklin Ave Shuttle service is disrupted. Running Lo-V or TOMC vintage trains on 42 St shuttle is OK because they are on dedicated tracks and won't disrupt regular service. |

Maybe they won't be "running", but will simply be towed back and forth by other equipment? Then again, the advert does say the equipment is subject to change. So perhaps they really think they'll be operational (and clean) by then. |

I like the idea of it going from back and forth from Court Street to Hoyt Schermerhorn. (I do admit I used to railfan the Franklyn when it had Standards.) |

Last time I was rode the D types on a fantrip they were placed "in regular service" on the Franklin Shuttle, made all stops, took passengers. Some very confused regular riders, not sure if they should be pleased with riding a train older than their grandparents. Speaking of clearance issues, it did scrape off a couple door lights in the tunnels elsewhere on the trip. |

Posted by Stef on Tue Apr 21 01:43:25 2015, in response to Re: D-Types Running?, posted by G1Ravage on Mon Apr 20 18:38:43 2015. You got my wheels turning. I was thinking somewhere along those lines as well. This was my point about using 6095ABC, they are IN the Museum and should probably be the ones to be utilized as they don't appear as worn out as the other two units (appearances may be deceiving though, the only people who know about the condition of the vintage equipment are folks who work with it). However, I'm all for using 6112ABC if it gets the set the work it needs and functional once again. There are my opinions ONLY, but since 6112ABC hasn't been out much over the course of 10 years, RTO may need some insurance. 100, 484, and 1575 ran with a diesel locomotive when that group made its run for the first time in many years. The Lo-V's prior to the 2004 celebration ran with an electric locomotive during testing as they remained at Coney Island Yard mostly inactive following the 1998 RPC Fan Trip (roughly 6 years). So here's what I propose: A locomotive can take 6112ABC from 207 to Hoyt St, and the loco is uncoupled once the consist gets to the platform. The loco can either be left at the end of the platform by the Home Signal if it faces the Rockaway end OR if there's room on the IRT side of the platform at the TM, store it in front of the SMEEs. 6112ABC will be free to run back and forth. I am merely proposing a scenario which doesn't necessarily mean it will occur; only the RTO Supervisor in Charge of the Train and Shop Personnel can say for sure as to what will be done. I'm an outsider just speculating at this point. For anyone who wants answers, attend the Museum Festivities or show up at Hoyt St that day. Respectfully, Stef |

D-types operated in regular service on every Southern Division line I can think of in regular service at one time or another, including Franklin. But mostly on Sea Beach and Brighton. |

Even some current equipment was not considered since R-32s weren’t able to be used in the Montague tunnel after Sandy reconstruction and I’m not sure if that situation has been corrected yet or not. |
