Thanks Larry. I appreciate it. Never got to ride the it, but I remember driving under it as it passed over Cross Bronx many times as a kid on the way to/from Jersey or Yankee Stadium. Also remember the portion of the Bronx Westchester where it was elevated just north of the Cross Bronx near the old Coliseum(?)Depot.

Hi Larry. A little off-topic but would you have any information on the collision/derailment of a set of R46 cars at Tower A in February 1978? The north motor was 1181. I ask this because I was the M/M on that train. I was exonerated but that's another story. Maybe it could be added to the Tuscarora Almanac Book of Collisions.
Thanks in advance.
Bob

Bob: There were so many collisions back then that many never got reported. I couldn't find anything relating to 1181. You mentioned Tower A. Was this in the Coney Island Yard? There was a collision in December, 1977 between two trains of R-46's. This occurred at 5th Avenue-53rd Street.

Yes, it was Coney Island Yard. The collision was at the bumping block adjacent to the "N" Line N/B tracks. The collision at 5th Avenue was documented by Enrico Sambucini who was a M/M and TWU Representative. Sam was on vacation the week of my collision so no photos or details. I will try to get the letter of exoneration from my safe deposit box and hopefully it may contain the details. I'll let you know what I find.
Bob
