It will open the 63rd Street and Third Avenue entrance in upcoming months. New ADA elevators and escalators at that entrance.

If 96th is 95% complete, why not finished till summer 2016? Couldn't they start service just to 96th even if 72 and 86 are not open yet?

because the missing work at 72nd and 86th might include components necessary for the train to get to 96th..?

But what if it doesn’t? 23/Ely Av stood unopened for many years after the IND Queens Line opened and I believe there were a few WMATA stations that had to remain closed only because their elevators to make them ADA compliant were not ready. If it’s only a matter of station finish ot access, then the SAS to 96St could be opened with trains bypassing the unfinished stations.

So you're ok with them on absolute block for about a mile and a half?

The tilework at 23/Ely was obviously different- I could see that even when I was 8 years old. I guess this explains it. When did the station open?

Correct. I would think that if there is signal equipment at 96 St that the line would be signaled all the way from 63 St. I’m only referring to lack of specific station amenities. It seem ed form the post that the only problem was that certain station entrances were not yet completed so that shouldn’t present any problem. In fact there is no reason why a station can’t be opened with only one entrance available rather than waiting for both to be completed.
