i agree with you. Those guys playing for six figures don't care about riding an 75+ year old train on Sunday or Saturday in the first place.

When you're insane enough that even Turtle Soup is calling you insane (and actually having a point)....when you're insane enough that you've even called ME out of lurking to call you out......you're truly insane.

The MTA doesn't bow down to pols (nor SHOULD they - you're the only non political person on earth who thinks that bowing down to political demands is a GOOD thing for transit) so why on earth would they bend over backwards for gamers?

Maybe if politicians had more power over Robert Moses, needed rapid transit lines would have been built instead of excess superhighways.

My point was, I know people who absolutely won't go on Sunday solely because of the NFL. It's not just about "gamers," the NFL is simply that big on Sunday. There's a reason its the 800-pound gorilla of sports.

Exactly. Moses was allowed to do what he did because no one was comfortable challenging him. What he did as everyone knows produced a lot of unintended consequences, even if many of the highways and so forth were actually needed (though there were likely other ways to do it without destroying neighborhoods as he did).

I doubt an actual demographic study would show that there is a large incentive for the MTA to run the train at any other time besides Sunday. You obviously have little experience in data analysis and sociology.

Good, let them watch football. The only football game that stops any events is the Super Bowl. Every other game is just another game that can be missed, even to the biggest fans.

Also, given that the train runs throughout the day, on multiple Sundays, anybody that is both a train fan and a football fan can squeeze in a ride.

Yea that is an impressive feat for that show, I think all the bad PR with the Dolphins locker room issues exposing how crazy football locker rooms can be behind the scenes, and all the concussions/brain damage is slowly turning people off from football.

But like I said in my first post, I'll watch if I'm home, but don't let it stop me from doing other things. It's just another game.

I agree.Thinking about my own neighborhood of Bay Ridge here in Brooklyn, ramps to the V/N Bridge could have been built from the existing route of the Belt Parkway without having to build an entire new roadway and destroying entire blocks of perfectly good homes.

Like I said, Fantasy Football drives a TON of what you see now:

This week starts the playoffs for most fantasy leagues because they want to have such wrapped up if possible next week or if not then no later than the following week because they want to avoid a situation in Week 17 where there are a ton of games involving teams that have already clinched playoff berths and are resting players or games that are meaningless and (as is the case with teams already in the postseason) are being played by a lot of second stringers. Same is true for leagues that try to be finished before Week 16 if possible due to wanting to avoid a lot of games that are meaningless.

And as for "The Walking Dead," that show has a massive following not seen since "The Sopranos" and is one of the only shows that does well against the NFL ("Dancing With The Stars" does well opposite NFL games as well, but in that case it's the same company in Disney airing BOTH on Mondays between ABC and ESPN).

Give it a rest, Wally. Despite what you claim, most people can make decisions for themselves. If they really want to watch football and ride the holiday train, they will find a way to do both. People who are religious can either subscribe to their religious beliefs or abandon them if they'd rather ride trains. The MTA could run the Arnines ZERO Sundays and ZERO Saturdays each year if it wanted to. Let's be fortunate it runs at all and if it doesn't fit your schedule, don't ride.
