Just a question, what the #7 bookended by a set of IND/BMT type cars?I believe that it was said on this forum that for an IRT-type train to use IND/BMT trackage that usually that the front and rear cars of the train (how-ever long) would be an coupler-connectable IND/BMT type car. This arrangement was said to be due to the trip-cock/trip-arm requirements of the IND/BMT system. In any case, just a question. Mike |

The head of the train was past me by the time I looked up; might have been a protect car up there. The rear of the train moved by me in darkness, but it didn't look B division to me. |

Well it ain't going to CIY via Brighton since there is no service between Brighton Beach and Stillwell until Monday Dec 1st. Q's terminate at Brighton Beach and B's end at Kings Hwy.B's are laid up on both A3/A4, last weekend if you had a key could walk from the north end of Kings Highway to Ave H thru the B trains. |

I believe that some R-62a s have 2 sets of trip arms one on each side of the lead truck, making it possible for them to run on B division lines as is without the need of a B div pilot car |

IIRC, the R-33WF (singles) had dual trip cocks. I was visiting in NYC in 1999 and was waiting for the 7 at Queensboro Plaza (had come from Manhattan on the N) when such a move was taking place. There was a 33WF on each end bracketing 2 pairs of 36WFs. Not knowing about the trip cock issue back then, I was like, that sucks that the crew has to operate in an unairconditioned car. Now after years of reading SubChat (and SubTalk), I know better :)BTW, this move took place during the PM rush hour. Meanwhile, a revenue e/b 7 was stuck waiting on the curve just west of QBP. Surprised they would make the move at that time, but I guess there was a good reason. |

Any time after the PM rush a CIT (Coney Island Transfer) can be sent to CIY for heavy maintenance work. I can’t account for the illuminated LEDs except that possibly one or the other has to be lit and they can’t be turned off. To answer another poster in this thread, the normal route for transfers to CIYD is via the West End unless one of the cars has very bad flat wheels in which case the train would be sent via the Sea Beach. |

They're working on the switches so I assume the tracks are closed and powered off. That said, the 7 train could still get to Coney Island via West End or Sea Beach. |

Apparently the LED's cannot be turned off, and must display either the green circle or red diamond at all times. All the laid up R62A trains in Corona Yard have those displays on all night. It's especially unfortunate when a train at Main St is going out of service; that would be a perfect time to turn off the lights, but they can't. |

Yes, that is why all the "B"'s will be laid up on the express tracks last weekend, Thursday and next weekend instead of going to the yard.Thursday if I take the Belt I will try to get a picture of where the B's usually spend the weekend. |

That sounds like a similar situation to the Lcl/Exp signs on the ends of all the R types up to the R-40 slants. They had to be illuminated either “Local” or “Exp” but couldn’t be turned off completely. |
