Actually Union St on the 4 Av subway in Bkln was renovated twice although the second renovation was really not much of an improvement.

Union street on 4th ave was rebuilt twice. Beverley, Cortelyou, and Parkside on the Brighton come to mind as well, and those are twice since 1990!

5th on the 7 was rebuilt. (47/50th however, really has not been.)

Nitpicking, I know, as your point is still very valid.

I don't believe those three stations on the Brighton line qualified as a rebuilding in 1990. As far as I remember, those stations in 1990 were just painted then with some prefab tile installed. The recent work was much more extensive and the 1990 work was not redone. I am not familiar with what was done at Union Street.

Fifth Avenue on the Broadway line had new tile installed twice by comparison.

What about Kings Highway on the Brighton line? I don't have a good recollection of the extent of the work done in the 1980s, because I wasn't a regular commuter back then. (I do remember hearing complaints about rainwater runoff into the station houses around that time.) The reconstruction done in 2009-2011 was extensive.

And all of the rebuilding projects are substantially larger than the upcoming 49th rehab.

There's also lots of elevated stations that got major work. For example Forest Ave, Fresh Pond, Seneca, Wyckoff, Knickerbocker, Central had their entire roof structires of the canopies removed and replaced, all new lighting, new windows and doors, signage, etc back in the early 90s.....and recently are getting renovations again. There are plenty stations like that.

I believe Kings Highway received a new canopy in the 1980s.

Yes, but are the same items getting renovations again? If canopies only last 20 years, someone should be asking some questions.

Yes, very well used stations that looked like crap before their most recent renovations. Ridership has a LOT to do with renovations too. Not only do they have more wear due to more use, they also serve way more people. No one would argue with "Canal St" complex being redone, as it was a hellhole.

The Canopoies aren't being replaced again, but all the other stuff they did on the stations is being redone again.
