How To Get Into Ozone Park LIRR Station |

Posted by Nilet on Tue Oct 14 08:05:38 2014 Is there any way to get up to the platform/tracks of the Ozone Park station on the abandoned LIRR Rockaway line?Preferably a method that doesn't require bolt cutters or grappling hooks or climbing a staircase that hasn't been maintained since 1962. Also, are there any other stations on the abandoned part of the Rockaway line that are still intact enough to be easily identifiable as stations? |

It's not safe to be on that right of way because of the overgrowth and the poor condition of the OP platform. Don't put yourself at risk of injury, or arrest due to trespassing. Woodhaven Junction was on the Atlantic Branch. It was renamed simply "Woodhaven" when it was moved underground. That one's still intact as well. |

Don't put yourself at risk of injury, or arrest due to trespassing. I don't see how it's trespassing. It's completely open, basically abandoned, and people are encroaching onto the ROW at various points. I'd hardly be the first person to take a stroll down the unofficial rail trail. Look at it from the street. That tends to limit the vantage points given that the station is way up on an el. To answer your next question, the Woodhaven Junction station above Atlantic Avenue is still there. "Above?" Can it be accessed any more readily than Ozone Park? |
