And the MTA.Info website still doesn't have it on the front page. You'd think it would be front and center.

I think they're waiting to see how well the overnight service runs before committing themselves to a major announcement. BTW the first N/B N leaves Dekalb at 10:52PM, arrives at Canal (upper) 11:06. The first S/B leaves Canal (upper) at 11:16, arrives at Dekalb 11:30, so a foamer (er.. subfan) can ride the first train in both directions, assuming they're on time and on schedule.

Well, we had great service for over a year. It's too bad it's ending.

New late-night N schedules thru the tunnel only leave 1 minute to cross over at 59th/4th to catch the single-track R shuttle. If the N is delayed by more than 1 minute, there goes your R train.

With the new schedules, the extra-long 20 minute scheduled gaps in service return late Saturday/Sunday evening. If you miss the Brooklyn-bound R at Times Square at 10:33pm Saturday night, the next two Brooklyn-bound R trains are at 10:53 and 11:14pm. Watch the mass exodus of customers exit from an N at 59th St to walk all the way towards Bay Ridge Ave, 77th and even 86th.

I don't know how anyone can be happy about this, except for rush-hour customers who need lower Manhattan. Everyone else is screwed again.

Since the main purpose of the shuttle is to pick up passengers from arriving Ns at 59th, won't they hold the R if the N is late?

At 7:58, I see in the lower right corner a link for "R Montague Tubes, service returns..." but it is small. I'd still think it would be one of the rotating headlines.

Unfortunately, on a single track operation, the trains have to depart exactly on time from both ends or the entire overnight operation will be thrown out of sequence. The bi directional running times combined with the short recovery time at both ends leaves absolutely no room for any sort of variation. The normal 36 St shuttle is a different story since it can be held in the event of mainline lateness.
