What are the operating capabilities of those two trains? Are they able to make it up the inclines at both ends of the tunnel. Would be a big embarrassment if they couldn't and got stuck in the tunnels. Also should they break down in the tunnel, that would mess up the operating schedules.I agree with your sentiment that BMT not IND equipment should be used, there maybe other considerations in play here. |

Actually, I'd prefer the Nostalgia SMEE train, marked "RR".Montague Tunnel was not the Arnines native turf. R11, R16 and R38 would be right at home there. One of the R38's first assignments was to the RR. |

Montague has about 10 R trains in the peak hour, maybe 12.WB has 10 Ms, and at least 6 Js and 6 Zs. Back when the M went through the Montague there were maybe only 6 of them, so then it might have been much closer. |

Also, they could borrow an R-42 set from the J, as IIRC, the RR used R-42s 4808-485? back in the day. Most of those (up to 4839) are still in service out of ENY.Of course, the roll signs no longer have a green RR bullet. |

Are they going to change the signaling to speed up the ride? I remember that it was timers from Whitehall to the merge with the Nassau St line. then full speed to Brooklyn (no timers). From Brooklyn to Manhattan it was all timers until the switch branching off to the Nassau St line, then full speed for the short distance from the switch to Whitehall. |
