Object/Purpose of Project
The purpose of this project is to replace existing overpasses and to renew platform canopies, along
with other station improvements at the Port Washington Station.

Units/Locations/Limits
Port Washington Station on the Port Washington Branch.

Summary
The station is located in Nassau County and operates as the terminal station on the Port
Washington Branch. The station has two high level island platforms (850 feet), a track yard east of
the platforms, a station building and two pedestrian overpasses. Both overpasses connect the two
platforms and terminate at one of the parking lots. Both spans cross over the adjacent right of
ways, platforms and service tracks. The overpass closest to the station building serves the east
parking area, with the other overpass serving the west parking area. Their locations divide the
platforms into three segments that are of approximately equivalent lengths.

The scope of work consists of demolition and replacement of two pedestrian overpasses. The new
overpasses will include ancillary railings, stairs, and lighting. The platform canopies on both
platforms will undergo renewal, including a new canopy roofing system. In addtion, other
improvements will be made to the station building and station vicinity. This station is ADA accessible

The budget for this project is $15.00 million. This request is for $4.00 million.
