Posted by Gold_12th on Wed Aug 20 21:45:12 2014 Object/Purpose of ProjectThe purpose of this project is to replace existing overpasses and to renew platform canopies, along with other station improvements at the Port Washington Station. Units/Locations/Limits Port Washington Station on the Port Washington Branch. Summary The station is located in Nassau County and operates as the terminal station on the Port Washington Branch. The station has two high level island platforms (850 feet), a track yard east of the platforms, a station building and two pedestrian overpasses. Both overpasses connect the two platforms and terminate at one of the parking lots. Both spans cross over the adjacent right of ways, platforms and service tracks. The overpass closest to the station building serves the east parking area, with the other overpass serving the west parking area. Their locations divide the platforms into three segments that are of approximately equivalent lengths. The scope of work consists of demolition and replacement of two pedestrian overpasses. The new overpasses will include ancillary railings, stairs, and lighting. The platform canopies on both platforms will undergo renewal, including a new canopy roofing system. In addtion, other improvements will be made to the station building and station vicinity. This station is ADA accessible The budget for this project is $15.00 million. This request is for $4.00 million. page 48 |
