Hi-V's - any existing sound recordings? |
|
Posted by Express Rider on Fri Jul 25 04:53:43 2014 I've seen / read about sound recordings released on cassette forLO-v's; R1-9's; AB's & D-Types. As asked in the subject line, anybody seen /know of any recordings of Hi-v's in revenue service? |

They were built long before the invention of magnetic tape and most were out of service before portable tape recorders were created.ROAR |

They were running until '57 or '58(?) and by that time some enterprising railfan(s) could have carried a samller reel to reel onto the train, along with a portable battery.I read about some students, from Brooklyn Tech (? - not the right name I know, but I mean the engineering school in Brooklyn) who did this with a full size tape recorder & battery on one of the earlier Lo-V trips during the '60s Maybe someone could record either the Hi-V at Branford, or Seashor operating. You would only be hearing the "outdoors" sound however. |
