The AirTrain costs $5 for a round trip from Jamaica.Obviously am-NY doesn't have a clue about the "other" station which also requires a $5 fare. |

I don't think I'd ever consider flying from JFK (as I will be tomorrow) if the Airtrain didn't exist. It's certainly easier for me to play AirTrain + LIRR back to the South Shore of LI than to wait for a car service to show up and charge some crazy amount to go back home if my brother can't pick me up from the airport. Late night flights from Newark, OTOH may end up leading to paying for the car service... |

The "other" station is still accepting $5 fares (or rather "fees") from people who pay them, but until "A" train service to the Rockaways is restored (and the shuttle buses from Howard Beach discontinued), it is a simple matter to walk between the "A" train and the "free" end of the Howard Beach AirTrain station, avoiding the $5 charge. You just have to know about the possibility, they aren't going to publicize it. |

All the papers are sloppy with typos nowadays.Someone mentioned that proofreaders used to be employed to catch typesetting errors, and that now that there are no more typesetters, the proofreaders are gone too. Catching spelling and grammatical errors was a secondary function of the proofreaders, but since their primary job is no longer needed, the secondary function is no longer being performed. Unfortunate. |

Yup... and then even worse is when there's what looks like a whole line of text cut out because they ran out of room because they left in too much space to fit the image 'cutout'. Basically you have one line wasted by maybe 1 or 2 words, when if they didn't have to make the image so big, those words wouldn't need a whole line. |

Why do your posts always look that way, single sentences to a paragraph? That would be a very stilted writing style unless it is conversational. Since you aren't writing them, why do they come out that way? I tend not to read them as they are difficult to read, again because I expect a conversation. I'm no English teacher, but I'd give a paper like that an F.These posts would otherwise be fairly informative. Just sayin... |

I prefer EWR since I can get on an Amtrak train to Washington from there if that is my destination. More flexibility to pick whether I'm going to/from NYC or DC from Newark than JFK. |

I wonder if the Triboro can handle rail traffic? Ideally the AT to LGA should at least get to the MNCR stop at 125th st. I would have Jamaica be the transfer point for the LGA and JFK branches. |

If the suspension span of the Triboro can handle it but not the movable part, another possibility would be to split from he Triboro roadway at the Randall's Island (or rather Ward's Island) end of the suspension span and head west, crossing to Manhattan on its own bridge, which would bring it in around 102 St., and then connect to the Second Ave. Subway station at 96 St./2 Av. |

I guess if they ever do intend on sending the SAS down the length of maybe CPW, then they probably don't need to send the AT past 2nd av. Talk about convenience for the UES: AT to LGA and no car needed. |

Of course, and it makes far more sense for you to avail yourself of that option given that you're headed toward DC. In contrast, I've done the Long Island to EWR trip, and while it isn't the worst option ever*, it isn't as convenient as going to JFK. Although, given some of the consolidation in the industry, some of us may end up going to Newark far more often than we would like.*The MLVs suck for luggage... |
