There was a 5:23 local train that in terms of actual commuting time adds maybe 5 minutes. The Hempstead Branch, for example, does not have any PM Peak trains that do not stop at Jamaica. Ditto the West Hempstead branch. Cry me a river |

According to the schedule, the only train I see fitting the description is #6861, leaving at 4:57 PM on Sat and Sun, serving Long Beach, Jamaica and NYP only. It's neatly sandwiched between the 4:26 and 5:26 locals. It also has a morning counterpart, #6816, leaving NYP at 10:22. Oddly, this one bypasses Jamaica. NYP to Long Beach non-stop.I can understand the anger of those living in East Rockaway or Island Park. Without the PM express, that 5:26 local is probably filled up out of Island Park. |

A weekday Peak train was cut. Go to LIRR schedules for all stations and there is a link for modifications due to work at Harold |

I hardly think beach goers ride THAT train. What they should have done is sent the 5:06 Flatbush to West Hempstead to Long Beach instead, and protect with a West Hempstead start-up train from Jamaica. |

It isn't a seasonal peak express. It runs all year round. I think his point was it should not have been cut in the summer because more people spend time out there now than in the other seasons... |

What point is there to have a train which runs non-stop to Long Beach outside the summer? Give me a break, that's a slot that could better be served by another line. |

Mr. Torres speaks out of both sides of his mouth.Long Beach has a terrible problem with swimmers being caught in riptides after the lifeguards go off duty at 6 PM. Yet this guy wants is criticizing the LIRR because they have cut out an express train that arrives into Long Beach after 6 PM. If he's really concerned about the beachgoers, he should be thanking the LIRR... |

All political posturing. This is how in campaign and reports to their constituents they say they're "Not afraid to take on the MTA and I have done so". |
