Yeah, they ARE replacing track. Worse yet, the have Jamaica completely closed between 86th and 90th. My mother's Access-A-Ride truck can't pick her up, she had to walk two blocks, which for her might as well be 2 miles.Unacceptable. |

They could have allowed traffic on the cross streets to cross Jamaica Avenue. That way, Access-A-Ride vehicles can access people who live on Jamaica Avenue in the affected area without forcing them to walk two blocks to an open street.Either that, or the Access-A-Ride operators should have anticipated the street closure and equipped each vehicle with a wheelchair… just in case. |

No, what they should have done is what they did 2 years ago when they were replacing the Jamaica-bound track: ban parking and run through traffic on the opposite side of the road. The way they did it today is just not acceptable.I lodged a complaint with the usual suspects. |

Yes. Only the shuttle buses and the 56 can proceed through the construction zone. 86th was closed north of Jamaica because that's where the crane and flatbed containing the track panels is. 87th, 88th and 89th are all closed crossing Jamaica. The most annoying aspect is that all the work right now is between 88th and 89th. There's no need to have 87th and 88th closed in any way. |

As I watch them install new track panels in front of my house this weekend, I noticed something, or I noticed a LACK of something. How, exactly are the track panels attached to the el structure? I assume they were bolted, but it looks to me as if the tracks are simply laid down on the supports and just sit there on top of it. |

The last major track panel job I remember on this particular stretch of track was in the late 80's. I remember specifically because the crane and flatbed was parked on my block and it accidentally hit our building. My landlord was MAD. This time, they didn't hit our building, but they did knock over the street lamp post directly infront of it.The upside to all this: my apartment smells of creosote. Call me funny, but I like that odor. It reminds of the subway back in the 70's, when every station reeked of it. |

Maybe they need to do work on that line between the 3rd Ave - 149th area? When I was last up there I was wondering what type of G.O they must set up if that area needs work. Same goes for X switches on trunk lines in Manhattan. |

If they plce panel track up there, how do they stagger the joints ?I know in the 1960's and 1970's, half the Bway-Jamaica line, and a lot of other els, did not have staggered joints. |

Since the joints are now welded, I suppose this isn't an issue anymore. The track they are removing is also spiked, but I know it was replaced in 88. Maybe they still spiked them that late. |

I had a look at the trackmap...-How are they going to turn the (2) at 3 Av? The crossover is between 3 Av and 149 St, so if they were using that then there's not reason why they couldn't turn trains at 149th St. -If the (4) has to go north of 167th to relay, why can't they terminate at 167 instead of 161? |
