A man was found dead in a Manhattan subway tunnel Monday morning, disrupting service on the M line, officials said.

The dead man was found on the roadbed north of the 6th Ave/14th St. station about 10:25 a.m., according to an MTA official.

He was not struck by a train.

M train service was suspended between the Forest Hills - 71st Ave. and Essex St. stations as police investigated.

At that time of day, why couldn't the Ms run up the express track between W 4 St and 34/6?

Presumably the Fs were doing exactly that, mixing with the Bs and Ds. All four services on one track would be a bit too much.

Power limits prevented trains from being crossed from B3 track back to B1 track north of west 4th street.

The incident occured on B1 track and a train was involved. A southbound "M" train was BIE and the Train Operator found no cause. The following train was cautioned and he found the person on the roadbed.

What if the guy was passed and was wearing dark clothes and the train operator didn't notice him, guy falls due to the wind turbulence caused by the passing train, falls while the train is halfway to almost fully past him and the last cars went over him, train goes BIE, T/O walks around and didn't see anything???? Possibility!!! Just a thought. AFAIK, T/Os don't have to walk all the way up to a point past the rear of the train looking for possible causes. Anything is possible, but if it was noticed and the T/O didn't take proper actions, he/she gets what they deserve!!

NONE of what you just said will wash in Labor Relations Paul due to these words...

"Sufficient Distance away from the last car is also to be investigated"..

I think the number is the length of the car class or 600 feet..
