The headphones at the center of the attack, said to be “Beats By Dr. Dre,” have become an increasingly attractive target, according to police. Most thefts of the pricey headphones, which cost between $300 and $500, are occurring in upper Manhattan and north Brooklyn, police said. God, if you're going to drop that much coin on headphones, there's a hell of a lot better choices. Though seriously, $500 for a set of headphones? That's something you plug into a high end stereo system, not a freaking iPod... (Happy with his $79 Sony MDR-V6s...) |

Right at the end of the WSHH video the kid who recorded the incident says "World Star, World star, I'm a put that shit up there anyway"...Typical NYC nonsense. Fight over headphones with a brazen thief on a platform in broad f*cking daylight in front of at least a dozen witnesses, and nobody intervenes, calls 911, or helps the guy who got cut. The most anyone does is say, "Yoooo, you got cuuuut, man, I swear to God"... God forbid I ever end up bleeding to death on the street with somebody leaning over me going "Jeezis, what happeneded to you, man?" Pathetic. |

Yep, it's western culture, where you shouldn't intervene because, "that's what the police are for", else you be charged, sued, fired, etc. We see what happens to good samaritans. |

No one ever got "sued, charged, or fired" for dialing 911 and calling for help. It's hideous that people cannot find it within themselves to do what is humanly right. |

Although I felt kind of stupid a few years ago when I called 911 about a guy lying half on the sidewalk and half on the subway steps. I asked him if he was OK and got no response. People going by said "Oh, he's just drunk." I called 911 and a police car, two ambulances and a fire engine came.It turned out he was just drunk and had passed out. I was glad I hadn't managed to wake him up because it took a couple of EMTs and a couple of Firefighters to keep him falling from down the subway steps as he staggered around. |
