A man was stabbed during a fight on a subway platform in Park Slope, Brooklyn, late Monday.

Police say the 30-year-old man was attacked while on the G train platform with his brother just before 10 p.m.

They reportedly got into an argument with two other subway riders, and punches were thrown.

One of the assailants then pulled a knife and stabbed the man in the leg and lower back, according to authorities.

The stabbing victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

Two men were being questioned, but no charges were immediately filed.

Are the bad days of high subway and street crime coming back? I don't think so, yet.

Twice recently, I decided to transfer from a southbound R to a southbound F at Fourth Avenue and Ninth Street, Brooklyn. Granted that I'm aging, what a climb that is! I don't know whether it's my imagination, but that two-system transfer point (made free in July, 1948) seems to have too many twists and turns where muggers could be hiding. Yes, the news reports seem to say the incident happened on a platform (which direction), but the even raises the decades-long question of sufficient supervision and sufficient policing.
---
There are at least three levels there: the fare control at street level on the west side of Fourth Avenue, the BMT platform level, the IND platform level. Is there yet another level with an underpass between inbound and outbound R trains?

Even if it takes more time, it would be better to transfer at Jay St./MetroTech (Lawrence St.) between the F and R. Busier station, less stairs.

That temp platform must be cursed.

When it opened for business a few days ago, it was found to be making contact with a third rail when power was restored. Lol

To Bill from Maspeth: Thanks! I now remember using that new Jay Street transfer for R to F, but I forgot it was fewer stairs than Ninth Street.
----
The problem has been getting from LIRR Atlantic Terminal to the F Culver line. That's what led me up the flights of stairs at Ninth Street.
Thanks. Joe
