No.

Yes.

In fact there was no prohibition of photography anywhere outside the building prior to the attacks of 09 11 2001.

I have entered the properties, both military and civilian, of the federal government during my more then 25 years as a contract courier. I have never seen a sign outside the Pentagon building that prohibited the taken of pictures until after the attack of 09 11 2001. Prior to 09 11 2001 the signs were only posted at the security check points inside the building.

Yeah, it's utterly ridiculous actually. I can't imagine if they tried to pull that in NY. Drinking coffee, etc on the trains is as "normal" as the trip itself...

And the next trains are basically getting rid of the carpeting and lush interiors so that they would be easier to clean up anyway

They'd use about the same amount of water (or possibly less!) using a steam cleaner to clean the carpets.

The rules were in place since day one. Just because an escalator is out of service (I won't even deal with telescoping trains, it rarely happens and you know it) doesn't entitle you to the right to eat or drink on the train. That is part of the reason the ban should be left in place as is, if you give the riders an inch they will try to take a mile.

Railfanning isn't about Subchat or NYCTF. It is about going out there and enjoying yourself at railroad museums or riding the trains, whichever you prefer. Perhaps you could volunteer at Branford - meet real people and make real friends.

OR you could just ride the trains and take pictures for yourself or to post on Flickr or other photo sites. Subchat and NYCTF are not all there is in the railfan world!

I think covered bottles is usually accepted, though not in all cases. Like in the NE where those people are animals and trash all in sight.

Want people to drive and not take the train, ban coffee and water.
