I do appreciate the fact that SEPTA adjusted their policy so that I can enjoy a covered beverage and a snack to keep me going on my 2.5 hr journey home (or when I am out and about exploring the city).Does that apply to all SEPTA modes or just Regional Rail? In the case of Regional Rail, it makes sense to me, it is commuter rail. But WMATA is a subway at the end of the day, it has a different situation IMO. |

Forest Glen is right on this one. One of the largest "small" expenses that transit systems face is extermination costs due to termites and such attracted to rail yards by food and other messes left by passengers on board, as well as other associated cleaning costs. WMATA pays much less for these incidentals than peer systems on account of the eating and drinking ban. |

A black person also wouldn't get arrested for taking photos if he or she didn't take photos there in the first place. When you come to understand how the rule of law works and the basic concepts of reward and punishment, perhaps you will encounter fewer problems on your outings. Same goes for eating candy bars and french fries on the system. |

I don't even know what LA Metro's policy is. I'm pretty sure that you can bring food and drinks on trains as long as you don't eat or drink. They look the other way for water and usually coffee. IMO food and drink (covered) should always be allowed. People buy groceries, prepared food, etc and take it home and I have no problem other than the smell sometimes. |

Quite a few bases and installations allow some degree of public access for a variety of reasons throughout the DC area. The station is nearly identical to Rosslyn (where photography is permitted). The DC area transit community AFAIK respects and understands the need for heightened security at the Pentagon and we are content to photograph to our heart's content elsewhere. |

Since I do not believe that photography in any way shape or form breaches "security", I will never accept bans where the object can be seen by the public. If your eyes can see it then so should your camera. If it is secret then your eyes should not be able to see it. AFAIK no military equipment is stored in that station - the ban is unreasonable.1. My philosophy is simple - if photography is banned then the ban should be challenged (ie. via courts, protests, or civil disobedience or any combination thereof). It is why I would support court challenges against PATH for its photo ban and court challenges against the MTA for banning photography on its bridges or tunnels. 2. If it is not banned then we should constantly fight to maintain that freedom and not anyone to take it away for any reason whatsoever |
