You don't need to raise taxes for Amtrak. Amtrak's budget versus the trillions they spend is such a non-percentage already that today it's a bigger farce to go after amtrak than it was before Obamanomics."May 7 (Bloomberg) -- Amtrak, the U.S. long-distance passenger rail carrier, would get a subsidy increase of less than 1 percent, to $1.5 billion, under President Barack Obama’s proposed budget. The increase for the Washington-based railroad compares with the $1.84 billion Amtrak sought for fiscal 2010. " Ignoring that Obama wanted to gave them less than requested(watches Jersey Mikes head pop off), that is a small amount when you look at how much a new LRT costs, or how much the HSR is costing, and this is to operate a full national network. I think out of trillions, if Amtrak needed something, it's in a present budget pretty easy. Not like they pass laws that fund anything that has to do with the orignal law at all anymore. |
