I'm not sure I would classify DART as an interurban. The towns it serve are considered suburbs of Dallas, although I suppose technically speaking, running from one town to another is considered an interurban. Now were it to run from Dallas to Ft. Worth (like the TRE, which is heavy rail), that to me would be a true interurban.

If you think of the genesis of the word, it dates back to a time before towns 30 - 40 miles from a city were considered suburbs. Illinois Traction (later, Illinois Terminal RR) was a true interurban, running electric cars between St. Louis and Peoria, Illinois via Springfield (172 miles).
