I'm surprised LIRR never took after NJT and tried to jack up the price on a NYP to JFK via Jamaica ticket.There's a key difference between the EWR NJT station and the Jamaica LIRR station. At EWR there is no exit from the station other than to the airport (via AirTrain) whereas at Jamaica there is an entire community at the station. If the goal here is to punish people using public transportation to the airport then it is easily accomplished at EWR but impossible to do so at Jamaica without punishing the entire residential and commercial community. |
