Here's a few more from the St. Charles line, while I wait for a thunderstorm to clear out so I can hit the road…

Turning from Carrollton onto St. Charles:

The carbarn off Carrollton:

End of the line at Carrollton and Claiborne:

The fareboxes really slow down boarding. Most people pay cash, with a dollar bill and a quarter. Feeding those dollar bills into the machine is the real time-killer. On the St. Charles cars, the farebox is right next to the operator, so he usually takes the dollar bills while the passengers feed their quarters into the machine. Then as he gets going, he feeds the dollar bills into the machine.

On the Canal/Riverfront cars, that method doesn't work because the machines are behind the operator's seat. So the operator gets up, helps people feed the machine, and then sits down and gets the car moving again. This makes for really long dwell times at busy stops.
