Though not quite the same situation, kinda why the (2) and (3) switched southern terminals in 1983. The (2) had direct access to two yards, 239 St and Livonia, while the (3) had Lenox yard, but its space was inadequate. Since a bunch of 3s layed up at Livonia anyway, they decided to just send the 3 to Newlots and let the 2 use 239 St (though I think a handful still lay up at Livonia). |
