Posted by Train Man Paul : Metro-North's Best Conductor FOR ALL 3 LINES!!! on Sun Jan 17 11:08:36 2010 After rolling south along Second Street, paralleling the NJCL, I came upon Sadowski Park and beach on the shore of Raritan Bay and the mouth of the Raritan River. Very nice place for views, and very nice place to photograph trains!! Let's take a look!!To get to Sadowski Park, for those wishing to check out this spot, once you come out the parking lot for Perth Amboy Station, head straight south on Second Street, about 4 long blocks, which parallels the right of way through an short area of industries and what appeared to be "chop shops", past a school and right ahead is the beach and park. Here is what Sadowski Park and Beach has to offer a railfan, and just in case you drive here, parking is available once you make a left at the sign "City Of Perth Amboy - Public Parking"....... Raritan River Bridge....... East side..... West side..... Goin' Black & White...... The swing bridge span..... The south end of the bridge and home signals at Essay Interlocking (South Amboy Junction)...... Northward automatic signals governing the block ahead by Perth Amboy Station, typical Conrail-styled tri-light signals mounted on a former Pennsy-style signal bridge...... UH OH!!! Sorry Fishbowl!! I had to do this to you!! Coming eastward across the Raritan River Drawbridge, Track 2 is Train #7244, Long Branch to NY Penn, armed to the teeth with MLVs, ALP-46 #4610 and 9 MLVs, Cab #7050 west end...... As, only briefly, the quiet returns, we admire the peacefulness at this spot, the sun shining bright, and a beautiful day this was...... Sun over the Raritan River...... But the "thunder" returns, as #7253, NY Penn to Long Branch, thunders across the span, MLV Cab #7024, 10 cars and ALP-46 4612 shovin' em across on Track 1...... Entering Essay Interlocking (South Amboy Junction)....... Clear of the Raritan River Drawbridge....... And with #7253's departure, now we must depart!! Thanks for coming along folks, I hope you all enjoyed!! Maybe one day I will luck out here and catch one of the several Conrail freights that ply the line here between Browns Yard and Oak Island!! One day!! Until then, enjoy the rest of your weekend, folks!! :-) |
