I'm absolutely sure because this was before the R-46s were delivered. In fact a D train composed of R-44s derailed in the vicinity of Kings Hwy on the Brighton line in the early 1970s and there was a photo of it in the Daily News. Also when I lived in uptown Manhattan and was a T/D I had occasion to ride an R-44 on the D and as I mentioned before it was before the R-46s were delivered since the R-46s didn't come in till after I moved to Brooklyn in 1974. |
